I can’t remember what day of the week I woke up in our new home about 135 miles away on a country road in the middle of nowhere, thinking holy crap I can’t believe this is really happening. We went from an awesome raised ranch style home to a small one bedroom duplex with no cable TV. Yeah that’s right no cable. I think it was about two or three weeks before we got a phone. Now think about this for a minute my friends didn’t even know I was …

Some of my family joined my husband and me for church and lunch today. It was wonderful. We went to the Wesleyan Church which was the congregation who sent over 500 care boxes to my grandson’s troop currently serving in Iraq. Their goal every soldier in Gary’s troop serving (900) to receive goodies and notes from home.

It’s Saturday, and I’m over the shock, and now I wait. My surgery isn’t scheduled until January 18th and I wonder…how much cancer, what stage and whatever? There are so many questions.

I’m having a very difficult day. I’ve been told I have cancer in my left ovary. I had everything else removed in the mid 80’s. During those days they thought leaving the ovary would be better, as you didn’t need hormones, which were a good thing…

I was a little surprised because normally he would just talk to me while I was glued to the TV. He didn’t even tell me …

I hope you’ll read our guest post from Dannielle Miller regarding our teens today and their self esteem…..If we band together perhaps we can help our kids, get stronger regarding what’s important and what is not.  Listening to teens today, thinking they need plastic surgery to correct a nose flaw is not one of my priorities, what’s in their hearts and minds is.
Arming our kids with information regarding things they should be aware of drinking, driving, sex, and sexually transmitted diseases are a priority.

Christmas is ten days away and Grandma is cranking… Most of my shopping is done. My husband got me started before Thanksgiving, and as I brought gifts home, yes and this is true…he wrapped, bagged and labeled them. I have a daughter, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He has three daughters, and then the miscellaneous people you purchase gifts for.

Hip high schoolers of the 1960s knew 8-track cartridges as an essential part of life. What we didn’t know, and probably didn’t care, was they were invented by William Powell Lear, who also invented the Learjet. The Learjet was of higher quality than our eight-tracks were, but at the peak of the craze, I had about 300 of them (tapes, not jets). It occurred to me during my second interstate household move that I simply couldn’t save them any longer. They take up space. They’re surprisingly heavy. All of them, yours …
