Lucinda Basset: Help for Anxiety and Depression

5 December 2007 One Comment

The best thing I ever did for myself was purchase the Lucinda Basset tapes on anxiety and depression recovery. It sounds petty and they were expensive, but they have changed my life. I still take medication regularly and I am thankful for it, but the tools I have learned from the tapes have made the days that used to be bad better by teaching me skills. I describe it like this… picture yourself in a pit where you are smothered and surrounded by darkness. In my case, anxiety causes me to be tormented by the motion pictures of my worst fears playing over and over again in my mind. The medication begins to quiet those thoughts and fears a little bit at a time as it builds up in my system and I have, of course, been through many years of talk therapy, but frankly, I don’t have anything to work through any more.

This problem has nothing to do with my life-it’s a lack of chemicals that causes my brain to go into panic as if I were being threatened. My body reacts to it as if I were. The CDs gave me tools and skills that were like a ladder helping me out of the pit. I am very thankful I found them and hope they help others the way they helped me.

  1. Very interesting; I tend to get anxious over things and imagine the worst as well. I take Prozac, which helps, but perhaps these tapes might help as well. I’ll have to learn more!

  2. Mauigirl, look up the either Lucinda Basset or the Midwestern Center for Anxiety and Depression Recovery. You should find the information you need there. Hope it helps, Sherry

  3. Nice Blog. I have been looking for blogs and such that I can relate to. I invite you to come to my blog and join me in my delightful spiral into death depression and nothing.
Thanks for your time. Remain happy ?

I am sorry to hear you are fighting this condition. It is challenging, to say the very least.

Do you have time to incorporate exercise? I don’t know if Lucinda Basset suggests exercise because it actually helps increase the production of the “feel good” neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.

I have clients who suffer from depression and anxiety as well, and they report good results with their symptoms after exercise.

I wish you the best in healing and hope you feel better soon!
