My Last Cancer Treatment was Monday
Chemo Update
Monday I received my last chemo treatment. It was a great day. I will continue with a scan in 3 weeks and regular blood tests which watch for indications of the cancer returning.
My doctor felt very good that I was in remission. However, I still felt uneasy. When I asked the nurses why I was feeling anxiety when I should have been feeling relief; she said it was my security blanket coming to the doctors for guidance and treatment. Now I would be seeing them less and they were what I depended on to kept my cancer under control.
Strange isn’t it, however when she explained it made sense. So now I make another adjustment and see the nurses less. Hopefully never needing cancer treatment again; staying in remission for the rest of my life.
Today is Thursday and I’ll start to feel the fatigue. The medications have been tough, as the Steroids make you feel as though you’re on fire inside. I’ll never understand anyone taking pills when they don’t need them. I’ll sleep for the next few days and then hopefully it will be over.
I’m very curious as to what my hair will come back as. Curly, straight, grey or white… I’ll take photos and we’ll see together.
I’ll be back with more details. Thanks for your support and kindness as I went through my cancer treatment.

Another milestone reached!
Take life a day at a time and enjoy.
I hope all the best with the treatments, and that any future tests come back okay. A patient in my office (dental) was recently diagnosed with non-hodgkins (sp?) lymphoma, and I can only imagine the fear associated with it. My thoughts and prayers for a full recovery for you both.
Congratulations!
It is strange how a positive event, specially a big one can be so stressful for us. From reading your other entries, I get the impression that you have a tremendous support system, and I hope (and expect) that you will make the most of it. Enjoy life, starting with this weekend, which I hope is a wonderful one for you!
I’ve been meaning to stop by here for some time, ever since Connie, at Play Wit Me Nana mentioned it. I’m glad I finally made it here today.
Congratulations! What wonderful news!

That is wonderful! I’m glad to hear that your Chemo is over. Take care.
So glad the treatments are over and you are on to a new phase. It’s a new “new normal.” I hope it lasts for a very long time.
It’s Sunday I’m done with chemo fatigue and Noah is on his way to spend the night.. I can’t wait..it’s been a long drill and I’m hopefully on the other side of the mountain.
Thank you so much for all your support and kind words filled with spirit and life for me. Every comment has meant something special. Now I hope to build my old energy back and move forward and resume a normal life.
The scan in two weeks will be important as it will tell us there is cancer lurking anywhere else. I feel healed..
And I’ll keep you posted as I travel through my mental upset…of where am I now and what I regret not doing in my life… I’ll let you know as I pray and ponder and determine what I can still capture..
hugs to you all….Dorothy
Dorothy: I recognize from Andrew Galarneau’s recent story about you in the Buffalo News (he is a colleague of mine) that we share the same wonderful doctor and nurses (Lori, Jacqui and Donna). I am so glad your chemo is over and everything is going well for you. I was diagnosed with ovarian last July, went through six months of therapy and have been back to work since January. I continue with a milder form of chemo that does not make my hair fall out and has few side effects. Looks like I’ll be on it at least through year’s end, but I feel pretty darn good. My female friends have been incredibly supportive and I have a great cancer coach through the Cancer Wellness Center in Buffalo who is a 20-year survivor. We’re going to beat this! Best to you in your recovery.
So glad you are done with chemo. Good for you!
Gramma Dorothy, Congratulations! This is awesome news:) I hope everything goes well for you in the furture also!
Love and kisses nikki.
