Chicago is Wonderful

I’m in the Windy city of Chicago for a family reunion

mrs smithMy husband’s family reunion is here in Chicago and I love the city, however he’s attending the family reunion and I’m visiting with one of my very best friends Beverly,  Her husband saved me and is going to the reunion with my husband therefore Bev and I can shop and visit parts of the City I’ve missed so far in my previous trips here, I think Chicago is my favorite place to visit it helps that we stay at their home which is beautiful and very laid back thus we get to catch up on the gossip of our mutual friends along with the fabulous stores which we don’t have back home.

When you visit places in the US like Chicago there is a different lifestyle regarding the traffic and what they have to offer in the way of entertainment and culture however to get there you may have to plan to be in your car at least an hour and often it can be two in order to travel what we consider a short distance as the flow of automobiles is unbelievable they are bumper to bumper and usually as far as the eyes can see so make sure you’re filled up with gas and have a well running car as you’ll sit on the road for long periods of time.  However the stores are huge and well stocked and today we’re heading to a Tupperware store and I can’t wait, as we don’t have those things in our city or suburbs of Buffalo.  Yesterday we went to a huge Lord and Taylor and Burdines Rack store where the prices were great and discounts fantastic and if you look you’ll usually find an outlet and save even more money may visit one today as well.

Thus, I’ll try to post tonight when we return from our trip to a winery with many stores and shops to visit all in one building (I can’t wait) as we’ll also be sampling wine and cheese which I find irresistible I’ll take photos although it’s suppose to rain to and the temperatures will be in the mid 90’s I hope it’s air-conditioned where we’re going and the light is good for pictures.   Although I mentioned this trip it’s is all about friends and in the future I have some thoughts on the subject as Bev has been in my life since the early seventies along with four other gals who have put up with me for as long and one over 40 years and I can’t imagine my existence without my friends and family they are a lifeline on this earth where I can vent and just be me, do you feel the same way and does your family and friends enhance your time on this earth so when you are able to get together you do, having fun laughing and reviewing your times together through all those years which seem like yesterday and you wonder how did life pass by so quickly.  Lately my mission is to do more of the same as living can be short and those times usually can’t be duplicated or replaced there’s a video coming on friends and I hope you’ll like it as it describes the virtue of friendship whether it’s your family or a friend the ship is the secret…is it family ship or friendship the bond is the important part of living and doing it well.

See you soon…

Dorothy

I have been to Chicago maybe three times altogether…and it was many many years ago! I liked it a lot! The Art Institute is one of the GREAT Museums of The World! Mostly, I went to the Theatre a lot—because the friends I was visiting were ‘playing’ there in Chicago. Good Food and wonderful company….AND, Very Very Good Theatre!
It sounds like you are having a truly wonderful time, my dear….Friendshps…there is NOTHING like it! Friendshps sustain one’s involvement in life just as work does, too—-whatever that work might be. Enjoy the rest of your stay Dorothy.

Chicago is one of my favorite places to visit. We are even considering making a move to one of the close surrounding communities when we retire because of the great mass transit (to get ride of our cars and the money they cost to keep running!), and the availability of all the fascinating museums and other places to visit. We sure would not be board there
