OY! I am really so sick of this story. First of all…The only thing I actually know about Tiger Woods for sure is: He is a great great golfer. I have seen that with my own eyes,watching him on TV as he played the game. I don’t know what else he is besides that, except that he is married with a couple of kids. Those are the only facts I actually know about this man. Filling 24/7 hours a day for the MEDIA is really hard to do. This story is like something that is prayed for by the ’sellers of soap’.(Fill in whatever word you want instead of soap…), and we really have no idea if any of these things are true or not and it is really none of our business—it’s between Tiger Woods and his Wife…Personally–in my opinion, Tiger Woods never set himself up as anything but a man that plays golf. WE endowed him with all these other things—Good Husband and Father; we endowed him with being less than mortal….I wish they would just let this story die. But they won’t. The public behaves like hungry animals…What the hell is that? In truth, Animals are on the prowl for prey so they can survive. WE seem to be on the prowl so we can feel better about ourselves. We put people up there and then cannot wait to knock them down. As far as I am concerned Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest Golfers to ever play the game. He was before this story and he will be after this story finally dies. It’s more than enough, already. In fact, it is disgusting to the extreme, the way ALL of the media is like a dog with a bone regarding this story, and irt’s disgusting the way the public is, too….And none of this will change as long as people feed off of all this crap.

We are a rubber necking race. I mean the human race. We are fascinated with carnage. You can see this on the highway after an accident, but also every day on the reality shows. That’s part of the deal when you become a celebrity.

But yes, we should all leave Tiger alone. It would certainly help his family, but it may be too late for his marriage. Let’s hope he learns from this and changes moving forward.

And yes a good lesson for all of us!

Really, after the trust is broken, what is left? Even the Bible says there are two reasons in which divorce is allowed: adultery and desertion. I would hope that they can heal these wounds,but who knows? Let it be a lesson to all of us that good character remains essential in marriage and relationships.

Hi Dorothy, Interesting post about Tiger… People are passionate about celebrities —and put them up on some kind of pedestal… Tiger just happened to be an extremely good golfer –and we all thought, unlike most rich athletes, that Tiger was ’squeaky clean’… AND because we have found out that he is just like all the rest, we are all disappointed. I guess we are all looking for role models especially for our kids and grandkids.. When you find one like Tiger Woods, you begin to think that he’s special—he’s different. But—now we know that he is just like all of the rest….

IS there anyone —who has fame and power, who lives a morally good life?????? Once someone seems to get money, fame, and power—they become greedy and selfish and think of themselves above the law.

I wish Tiger Woods the best –but he will probably never be treated like some kind of ‘god’ again… At least I hope not.

I also am OBSESSED with the Tiger scandal. Its all over the news its hard NOT to pay attention to it. I just feel SO awful for his wife. I can’t imagine what SHE is going through right now. I don’t think there is enough money in the world to fix a broken heart. And I don’t think you can buy enough things to fill the emptiness! Oh and the paparazzi will never leave HER or those kids alone. I guess it’s a GOOD thing she bought a house on a private island. Maybe that will be the only way to escape all this.

This is what happens because we are so obsessed with the cult of the celebrity. They’re human for heaven’s sake! I simply choose not to follow this kind of invasive journalism. I have too many of my own foibles that I hope the world and my friends will never learn about – and we are all fools if we don’t all have something we want to keep hidden from our world.

I wish this nasty fixation would pass.

And the real point is that celebrities are just like all of us ordinary mortals. We put them on pedestals and when they run amok when they fall off them and act like those trashy neighbors down the street, we are disappointed. It’s becoming a big yawn to me. I admired Tiger Woods’ prowess on the links and respected his seemingly ’squeakly clean’ image. Which among us is so free of sin to casts stones? My ex-husband can recite the litany of my sins — some of which I didn’t even commit!

I don’t think that Tiger’s marriage can survive this. All marriages are based on trust, but I think it’s especially important when a husband travels so much. My husband often does around 60% travel for his job, and I have the utmost trust in him, but if that were ever broken I don’t see how it could be restored.

I just did a video blog about Tiger today, and I really think that he was not ready for the commitment of marriage. Celebrities seem to reach that point in their lives where they’ve achieved so much professional success that they seem to decide it’s time to have success in their personal lives which we tend to equate with a wife and kids. Of course wanting success in your personal life and achieving that success are two vastly different things.
