Videos to know about: Staying in tune with what our kids are into…continued

27 January 2010 9 Comments

Some readers wanted to know what the Glee video we posted was all about…this is for you GrannieAnnie!  It is a takeoff on the video that Beyonce did that really caught fire.  The Beyonce video was lampooned on Saturday Night Live (in a sketch that Beyonce herself was in), and has become a big hit on the internet with the world (including a video with toddlers doing the dance!).

It is the video that sparked the infamous Kayne West debacle with Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards.

Thanks for the comments Dads, Grandpas, Moms, and Grammas….when we stay connected with what our kids are doing, it brings us closer!

Check it out….FIRST, the original Beyonce.
NEXT, Toddlers dancing to it!
FINAL, girls on the street doing it!

I like the dancing and I like the song — especially it’s sentiment! I’m still old-fashioned and think “putting a ring on it” is a good idea!

Cool now I have my very own pop-culture teacher! I actually knew very little about this although I have seen a few of the videos. In the first video it was so refreshing to see non-bony skinny types that at first I thought it was drag. The second video has a that little one in the diaper well on their way to being a dancer..what rhythm. The final video was very inspiring as it took LOTS of work, but I did get distracted by that guy drooling while he was filming.

I have videos of my 3 year old granddaughter dancing to that song! It’s a fun one. I wonder if “Pants on the Ground” is going to be as popular! :-)

Hi! Dancing was never my forte. I’m one of those people that just loves to watch! Slack aren’t I? Take Care – Peter

PS I tried to watch the first video, but I didn’t show with a message coming up stating it had been blocked in my country. Whatever for? No matter!

Once again, I think it’s so cool that you’re staying in touch with what’s popular. My oldest son is an amazing guitar player and song writer, so I keep up with the latest music because he’s such a music fanatic. It’s tempting for people to stick with the music that they grew up with and to declare the music that is popular as “noise.” I hope to never be that old mentally no matter how many years I live to be.

I saw one take off of this that had three rather fat middle aged men in it. I think of them as plumbers. It was hilarious but I haven’t been able to find it since.
