Special Agent Oso Finally a good program for kids

Hooray for Disney and agent Oso

Finally I watched a television show with my grandson Noah this morning and it had some substance, they were teaching our children good habits, instead of other programs which I’ve watched that (in my opinion) instruct them how to be disrespectful children with no fear of right or wrong.

I recall watching a Discovery program which challenged adults to conserve energy and then had a catchy phrase which said you can do 3% less and I couldn’t tell you why however, it stuck in my brain (my 63 year old head) and I’m turning off televisions and lights when I leave the room, unplugging chargers when not in use, electrical appliances, and being very conscientious about being wasteful and feeling really good about it as well. I want to be part of the solution and less of the problem as we here in the United States are known throughout the world for wasting much of our natural resources’ so when Noah was interested in the agent Oso television program I was thrilled, and when he started telling me I should:

Turn off lights when no one was in the room, remembering to turn off the water when your brushing your teeth, check all your faucets to make sure none were dripping, I knew there was hope for our younger generation, plus if we teach them good sense habits now, they will become a part of their normal lifestyle helping all of us live a better life, preserving the resources we have left.

Therefore, congratulations to Disney for creating a program which will help our children acknowledge we have a ways to go in order to have a positive affect on our natural resources, adding to the preservation of our earth’s perpetuity for the next generation. I recall being in Europe a few years ago and during a general conversation someone making reference to Americans being wasteful with our energy and I must admit I couldn’t disagree, as I knew it had not been high on my priority list well now it is and perhaps I’ve gotten you to think about this as well so excuse me while I check my faucets and lights to make sure there all turned off.

Hi Dorothy. I agree with you, some kids show teaches kids nowadays to do very disrespectful things and I don’t allow my daughters to watch them. As for energy conservation, I’ve been trying my best to conserve which means turning off lights, computers, tvs, microwave, and using less of our garage door. Everyone should be mindful and do their part. We’re all in this together.

We’ve depleted so much of our natural resources that it is scary to think of what kind of problems the next generation would face. We all should try our best to do what we can for the environment. I teach my kids to turn off whatever they are not using and they’re very good at that. We all can do “3% less”.

I’m right there with you. Some of the crap on TV these days is horrible. Of course we watched it too, growing up. But we all need to be more aware. Little changes add up. It would be nice to be a trend setter in the world of energy instead of just arms.

That is wonderful that there are shows out there that children can learn positive things. My daughter got so fearful of what her kids would be exposed to on tv, that she now doesn’t own on. I love it! When I go to see the grandkids they are more focused on you providing entertainment instead of being ignored cause of a show or a video game.

I haven’t seen this program…..Not having any grandchildren, the chances of my seeing it are pretty slim….Good to read about it though. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I must admit to being naive in regards to this Disney show, but if it has your stamp of approval then it has to be good!!! Disney, whether you like them or not, are very good at what they do.

My son watches Oso. You’re right. So many of the cartoons today teach kids to behave badly. I especially dislike Spongebob.

That sounds great. These days most tv programs are bad but it is good to know that there are people out there who work hard to make this world a better and safe place. good post.

Good for Disney. My son used to yell at me when he was younger about shutting off the water while I brushed my teeth and to this day, thanks to him, I am MUCH more water conscious. I am usually pretty good about shutting off the lights but I don’t unplug my electronics. But thanks to this post NOW I WILL!

Thank goodness for the Disney tradition of being good to children and now teaching them proper habits. How very refreshing!

I applauded the action taken to make more responsible programs for the benefit of our children. There are good values and things that we need to start from young. Besides these programs, we really need to remind ourselves that the children are watching our actions too. Thus it is important for us to lead by example.

My daughter must have seen that program because she runs around the house turning things off now. It’s wonderful.

Good for Disney! My son taught me a long time ago to shut off the water when I brush my teeth, and I am usually good at shutting off the lights as soon as I leave the room. But, it never occurred to me to unplug chargers when not in use! Now I will! Thanks Dorothy!
