A terrible thing happened to me this Thursday.  I was scheduled for a PET scan on Friday when I found out it had to be canceled because my insurance company wouldn’t approve the expense.

What am I going to do?
There are so many things I still want to do with my life.  Anyone reading this blog knows today its dependent on my cancer.  When I had my scan and blood test last week they said I had unspecific changes where the surgery was.  Now I could have spelled that wrong however, it doesn’t matter I’m heading back for another test (PET scan) and I’m concerned.

Chemo Update
Monday I received my last chemo treatment. It was a great day. I will continue with a scan in 3 weeks and regular blood tests which watch for indications of the cancer returning.

You don’t have to do this alone……

Yesterday and really all week I’ve been very sick with a cold.  It hit my throat, chest and head.  Of course, because my immune system is compromised I was sure I was going to die.   So I decided to pull out Debbie Lanes tapes she sent and see if they would help settle my nerves.

I remember time flies when you’re having fun.  Well I certainly haven’t been having fun; however, I can’t believe I just finished with my fifth chemo treatment on Monday and have only one left provided my cancer stays in remission.  They never use the declaration cured, although once you understand your new world you become very accepting and hopeful of remission for your cancer and the term becomes an answer to your prayers.

Having cancer has taught me many things this year.  Some good and others I would rather have not known.  However, there is one thing I do understand compassion and empathy, when you’re sick and feeling down and out both are what you need as much as the treatment. My Chemo nurses are skilled in their jobs and have both emotions which act as a calming energy to the patient.  (Note my ownership of the Chemo ladies).

I’m in a meeting today and I am feeling weak and my brain just isn’t firing on all cylinders.  This is one of the side effects of chemotherapy.
I’ve decided to list some of the things that chemotheraphy does to your body for those about to go through it and those who support a loved one going through it.

Cancer
This was the first week I felt as I did before my surgery. It was amazing and wonderful. I feel healthy and able to resume my prior life. My husband told me he saw the difference as well.
Noah
We had Noah this weekend and I was able to do all the things we did before. While we were driving to my sisters to have Noah go in the hot tub, which is big enough for him so he thinks he’s swimming he said; Grandma it’s so great you can drive again …
