Life today is Harder then I thought

Do you find yourself unable to bear the idea of what you might hear tomorrow?  That you’re sick of the problems others created and you must accept the burden for?  And in New York State we have an assembly loosing some of its members so any solutions to current issues are being ignored so the next generation of clowns will take responsibility for cuts which should have never been allowed in the first place.

I hate politics however, I’m becoming more aware of the need for us to stay in touch for our government seems to be getting more greedy with their needs and less concerned with ours and we’ve in a disastrous state of financial devastation and no one is willing to give up to make it better.  So I find it harder to write because there seems like no matter what we do as the taxpayer; we’re screwed.  The debt on the local, State, and Federal level continues to grow. Our obligations to companies such as GM have become more evident and because most of us don’t understand the details we’re perplexed as to whether we should support them or let them struggle.  Sadly the workers and smaller companies which are dependent on GM are the big losers and the only reason I find myself wondering if we should get involved and help them survive for the little guys.

So what is our role, and how as taxpayers can we help our politicians make better choices going forward.  When I hear my friends talk about how this has affected their personal lives; most of us having to work more years in order to survive I’m depressed.  It makes me think about the depression days I’ve read about, where there were food lines and the highest unemployment ever known in the United States.  I know as a country we can do this and I’m sure with our history we will, the question is how do we keep a cheerful appearance while the doom and gloom is everywhere?

Here, now, will the Sun Rise

My feelings are more confident as I watch Obama make choices which appear to be in the better interest of our Nation.  He is as promised, bipartisan something we have lacked for years in our government.  It seemed as though each party would line up each year and proceed similar too football; fighting for the ball and acting as though whoever made the touch down was on his way to being the winner and in control in the next election.  Giving anything to the other party might have constituted a future loss for the power within the party.  If Obama is able to lead the parties working for our interest as a country; (as they were elected for), we may in the end be the benefactors of a better government. Not divided working toward who will win and take control in the next election.

I didn’t vote for Obama, however, watching him prepare for office has given me confidence that he is a good family man and will work for us.  I was taken back by his speech when he referenced - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, (and I finished it) shall not perish from the earth.  From the Gettysburg address November 19, 1863. His words gave me great confidence in his wisdom and intentions for us.

How could they have been so smart so long ago and seemed to have known then what was best for us?  And is there the glimmer of hope that President Elect Obama may know something I didn’t give him credit for?  That perhaps he will lead our country into better times and we will rise as a nation strong, holding our heads high?  I hope so because the men who have run this country in the last decade have certainly not done their jobs. Furthermore we are the ones writing checks to our government while they make statements which indicate the money has somehow become theirs to give.  When in reality they are our representatives elected to serve us the people.  As now as I write this dismal article and you see why I haven’t written much lately I wonder; will the sun shine brighter as this family who has suffered from prejudice and complicated families rise to the occasion and help us become who we were meant to be.  Is our world going to be a better place because Obama seems to understand the major issues affecting our lives on a day to day to basis?  I hope so and I have this glimmer of hope he will follow through and we will be the benefactors of his wisdom.  I won’t be at the inauguration in January; they lost my address in all the confusion I never enjoyed those kinds of affairs anyway.  I’m usually in my pajamas by nine and those parties go on all night.  However, I will be watching on television with new hope for a family I didn’t vote for and who has made it known it’s alright; they need all of our support to get things done properly and that is their mission  not to allow us to; divide and be conquered.

So as I continue to watch the news on television, and I’ve stopped for the moment listening to Rush, I think he’s to dam narrow-minded; I await the time needed for things to get better and lately I’m feeling like there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  How are you doing and are you thinking as I am the worst is over for us.

Hello Grammology fans I’m Dorothy’s daughter Sherry and I’ve written a few blogs for my mom as she’s written a lot of things about my family (some I’ve not been so pleased with) however always respected and understood as her perspective.  Now it’s my turn and I can’t wait until she reads what I have to say (this will be fun). Everyday in the newspapers there are reports of economic recession… there is no respite from the tumbling stock markets across the country. Nowhere to look and nowhere to find comfort.

Are You doing what you really want in Life?

Are you really doing what you want with your life?

Even grandmas my age have regrets.  In fact recently I’ve spoken to my friends and most of them would have changed several things if they could go back in their lives.  Of course, we know that’s not possible; so forward you proceed.  However, is there something you can do to make your life what you dreamed it would be?

Would you have to quit your job?  Move out of your neighborhood?  Go to school, or retire.  There are many things that have a profound impact on your happiness even when you’re old.  Often it’s overwhelming when I think about what I would really like to be doing.  Yes me, I’m far from where I’d planned to be at this time in my life, and frankly my time is short-lived.  So I’ve read some books and been seriously thinking about what I need to do to change my course and asking myself what is really important to me right here and now.  As I ponder I wonder if I’ll be surprised at my answers so let me know some of your thoughts as well, because we all know misery loves company.

Even more intense, as I go through this will I have the courage to make the changes?  You read books, watch talk shows which give advice and experience where the objective is to help you move forward in a different direction.  As I mentioned in other articles there are no reruns in this world.  You get one chance and that’s it so with this in mind…I’m thinking.  What’s my next move?  Will I be making a transformation which ultimately will make me happier? Or will things remain status quo.

Most of us think about what we missed or secretly dream about what really would make us happy and ultimately achieve our goals.  So for my New Years resolution, and yes it’s early I’m going to think and dream about what I haven’t done which I really would like to do.

So here are some of my first thoughts...

Retirement

I may be tired from working hard lately but I’m exhausted from just keeping up with what is happening on Wall Street it’s disturbing to see the mismanagement and greed we’ll have to pay for.  When my 401 envelope comes I throw it in my file cabinet unopened (I am in no way suggesting you do the same, but personally I can’t stomach reading it.) I’m thoroughly convinced the only way I’ll be able to retire is by winning the lottery.  The main factor in putting off retirement is maintaining health insurance coverage. It seems that at a time in life when health care is of prime importance the availability of decent insurance coverage and providers is lacking. I’ve several friends in the same boat, staying in the work force longer then anticipated. In 2007, almost 39% of the labor force was over 55 years old and over 10% of people 70 years of age and older  who are not institutionalized are still working. The only saving grace for me is I enjoy my job and have Grammology.com where I can vent my frustration (aren’t you lucky?) Furthermore, with the wonderful news that I’m FREE from cancer I’ll be writing more!

Happy Weekend

Because of lamenting about my life; I thought I‘d make this an update post and give up on my psychological thoughts for awhile.
