My Husband and I talked this morning about how to make Thanksgiving and Christmas more like the old days and I began to wonder what that meant. Do you have any recollection of what the old days were like as families celebrated this holiday? Today I’m going to go out on the web and see what I can find including some recipes so we can figure out what the celebrations were before we became so commercial. Looking back and remembering what they did with so little can be a resource for what many of us are facing after cutbacks and those who have lost their jobs. Making more homemade items for the table can be fun as they say crafts are therapeutic so I’m anxious to see what we can do to save money and still have a beautiful table. If you have any suggestions please share them with your comments. On another subject which also is making me reflect on this Thanksgiving: It will be one year on December 21 that when I was told I probably had cancer and on January 18th I had my surgery and so, the journey began. I have so much to be grateful for when I consider many people with my diagnosis wouldn’t even be here today. And to date I’m cancer free, feeling strong, and living a normal life with no limitations. In addition, when I stopped posting while I was sick, all of my blogging friends (you) continued to come to my site and wait for my posts to resume; which made me feel so respected and missed. I don’t think people realize the power you give someone when you are unconditionally there for them and they are in need of confidence when down and out. It was a source of my healing and I wish I had the power of picking the right words to say thank you. You gave me hope that when I returned to my normal strength that you’d be there and see me through this passage and grammology would survive my Cancer. So on Thanksgiving I’m pulling all my positive thoughts together pulling out some of our new grammology t-shirts and going to give them away to our readers. David who has been helping me blog is off (had surgery on his spine) until after Thanksgiving, and when he returns we’ll post how you can win the t-shirts. Until then I just wanted to say I’m really looking forward to meeting some of you in the future. We’ll figure out where we can all meet and make each other crazy when we all try to talk at the same time. It’ll be fun and interesting learning more about you as you know so much about me. I promise over the holidays I’m going to make a list of the post I started and didn’t finish for you there are questions I still owe you answers for. Meanwhile, I am so happy I found this outlet (thank you Miles) it’s been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my life and certainly cheaper then a psychiatrist. So as we post some fun things about Thanksgiving, recipes, table settings, etc. I hope you’re all well and steady on your feet as we beat these hard times and we will with each other’s help. My best thoughts for you today as we prepare to be thankful for life and hope it’s long and fruitful. Dorothy

I may be tired from working hard lately but I’m exhausted from just keeping up with what is happening on Wall Street it’s disturbing to see the mismanagement and greed we’ll have to pay for.
